Contactless payments are an ideal payment method in situations where merchants need to process a large number of low value transactions, such as in coffee shops, fast food restaurants, newsagents and convenience stores. Contactless payments can be processed securely and cost-effectively in half a second.

As Contactless is based on the EMV standard introduced for chip technology (chip and PIN) the existing hardware can be easily extended to add a contactless reader at low cost.

Payment instructions are securely exchanged between the contactless chip embedded in the bank card and the reader using wireless communication technologies.
